Sonar
David Torn
スタジオでの録音はそれを目撃した音楽ジャーナリストAnil Prasad(David Torn を彼が十代の頃から知っているそうだ)によって絶賛されている。
And that's a wrap! The Sonar + David Torn 'Vortex' sessions are complete. What an amazing journey it has been to be here in Zurich for it. Terabytes of audio, video and photography have been captured in this hyper-documented event. Everyone went in with an open mind and what has resulted is phenomenal, collaborative, unexpected music which I promise will blow you away when it's out. On another note, I've known David since I was a teenager going back 29 years (!) but observing him as a producer, musician and sagacious presence in such depth has been an experience like no other. I learned a whole lot. And my friends in Sonar -- Christian Kuntner, Manuel Pasquinelli, Stephan Thelen, and Bernhard Wagner -- are surely one or the most unique bands on the planet. Every one of them delivered the goods and meshed brilliantly with Torn. D. James Goodwin, engineer extraordinaire, contributed deeply to making this thing what it is as well (the photo was taken by him -- he's a great visual artist, too). This whole thing was the sound of surprise. On day 4, the band captured a huge improv that was just awesome (a crude iPhone capture is on my page, but it doesn't come close to the experience of what was recorded). Everyone came back to the control room with several people jumping up and down in excitement. It was a serious moment. I cannot wait to hear the final result. You'll no doubt be hearing about it here as it emerges. Also, a shout out to Henry Kaiser -- it was his idea to have Torn produce. There is much, much more to come on this album in the future... watch this space...
