What do David Bowie, Julian Cope, John Lydon, Jim Kerr of Simple Minds, Marc Almond of Soft Cell, Paul Armstrong of the Flashcubes and Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickenson all have in common? - They all think Peter Hammill is the business.
In a 56 year career as a solo artist and leader of Van Der Graaf Generator, Peter Hammill has released 57 studio albums and 22 ‘live’ albums, (not to mention countless bootlegs that show up every time he performs in concert or on the radio and television).
He’s sung with, or played on recordings by Robert Fripp, Peter Gabriel, Miguel Bosé, Ayuo Takahashi, Moondog, PFM, Tim Bowness and Gary Lucas (amongst many others). He’s a writer, producer, collaborator and label owner (Fie! Records).
On Friday at 3pm, he takes over the airwaves at WPKN, Bridgeport and guides us though nearly 3 hours of music he’s played a creative role in.
